Throughout San Antonio numerous games of Texas hold em are going on during any given day. Some games are conducted by an exclusive club in undisclosed locations, even then everything they do is legal.

The group is called Chips for Children and they’re a non-profit charity poker club.

“You come in and we ask for dues, no forced fees at all, everything’s done by donations,” said Zenas Pilcher of Chips for Children

Even though the poker is all done in the name of charity players still feel the competitive edge since there’s big winnings when tournaments are held. Sometimes the club will have big screen TV’s or trips to Las Vegas for world series of poker events as prizes. The tournament fee is simply $50, or $100 and club member said it’s the best way to play competitive poker legally.

Earlier this week San Antonio Police arrested two men after investigators claim they were hosting poker matches out of a northwest apartment complex. Detectives said the hosts were taking a cut from the pot and that’s illegal.

“We got to keep it legal, we got to keep a good face on poker, the comradery alone is what it’s all about,” said Pilcher.
